A plot generator that gives your idea somewhere to turn
A plot is not a summary of a genre. It is a shape with a turn in it: something changes, at a cost to somebody. Describe your idea and get ten of those.
A plot generator turns a premise into a story structure. This one asks for your genre, the shape you want and what is at stake, then returns ten directions, each naming what changes and what it costs. It runs on a free FeelyWrite account. Signing up gives you 15 free credits with no card. One run uses one credit.

Plot generator
Describe your story
Genre, shape and stakes in, ten plot directions out, each with its turn named.

A plot is a change, not a situation
Most stuck drafts have a situation rather than a plot. A haunted house is a situation. A haunted house the family cannot afford to leave is a plot, because now there is pressure, a decision and a cost attached to every option. The difference is whether anything has to change.
So the useful question is not what happens but what turns. What does the protagonist believe at the start that they cannot believe at the end? What does it cost them to stop believing it? Answer those and the events arrange themselves. Skip them and no amount of incident adds up to a story.

What you give the plot generator and what comes back
Give it one or two sentences about your protagonist and a specific, active conflict. "A lighthouse keeper hides a stranger from the navy" works better than "a story about loneliness," because the generator has someone to put under pressure. Then pick the genre, the shape and the stakes.
You get ten storyline directions. Each one names the turn: what changes, when it changes and what it costs. They are directions, not outlines, so read them the way you would read notes from a sharp friend. Keep one, combine two, or reject all ten and notice why. The one you argue with often tells you what your story actually is.
From a story plot to a book
A direction is the start of the work, not the end of it. Turn the one you keep into a full shape with the novel outline generator, then write. Inside FeelyWrite, Brainstorm answers the smaller plot questions as they come up, such as why the plan fails or what she does next, five ideas at a time. Draft writes each beat of a chapter as its own scene, in the point of view and tense you choose, reading your Story DNA as it goes.
Name the midpoint before the ending
The middle is where drafts die. The fix is knowing the moment the story turns over. Decide what the protagonist learns halfway that makes going back impossible. The second half then has a direction.
Give the antagonist a plot too
If the opposition only reacts, your middle will sag. Write down what they would achieve if your protagonist did nothing at all. The pressure that creates will fill the pages you were worried about.
Attach a price to the climax
A protagonist who wins without losing anything leaves readers oddly flat. Decide in advance what victory costs. The ending will feel earned rather than arranged.
Common questions
- Will this write my plot for me?
- It gives you ten directions with the turn named in each. Choosing which one is your story is the part that makes the book yours. So is writing it.
- Is the plot generator free?
- It runs on a free account that starts with 15 free credits and needs no card. One generation uses one credit. When the free credits run out, the pricing page shows the monthly plans.
- What should I type in?
- One or two sentences: who the protagonist is and what they are up against, as specifically as you can. A name, a place and a problem beat a theme every time.
- Can I use a generated plot commercially?
- Yes. A plot direction is an idea. Copyright law does not reach ideas. The Copyright Act says protection never extends "to any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery" ([17 U.S.C. 102(b)](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/102)). The book you write from it is your writing.
- What is the difference between a story idea and a plot?
- A story idea is a situation: a haunted house, a heist, a marriage of convenience. A plot is what the situation forces somebody to do and what it costs them. This tool starts from the idea and hands back the plot.
- What if none of the ten fit?
- Change the shape or the stakes and run it again, or take the closest one and argue with it. The direction you reject often tells you what your story actually is.
Write the book this becomes
A plot is a start. FeelyWrite turns each beat into a scene with Draft and keeps your characters and rules in Story DNA, so chapter twenty still knows what chapter two promised.
